Yesterday Vin Scully officially announced that his final game calling baseball will be October 2nd. Even if the Dodgers make the playoffs he is not going to call any of those games. I have to be honest this makes me pretty sad and honestly as I sit here trying to figure out what to write my thoughts are so scattered because of what Vin’s retirement means for fans and for baseball.

The immortal Vin Scully has been the voice of the Dodgers for more than six decades. He has seen their best days, and worst, but more importantly he was there for their days in Brooklyn.
Though he had many favorites on the team notably called the Boys of Summer, he is still miffed by the fact that Gil Hodges is not a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame. What is even more unfortunate is those who played with the first baseman are slowly leaving us and his chances of ever becoming a member are fading.
This video is quite possibly the best depiction of how special the game of baseball has been throughout history. Vin Scully recites the “Field of Dreams” speech, while some of baseball’s greatest memories are shown the background. My words can’t do this video justice, so please enjoy this video in the link below. Warning You may get goosebumps.
