I stumbled upon this awesome video on Steven Matz looking for strikeout footage, and I guess I’ve been living under a rock because I totally missed this.
It’s a cool five minute short about Matz’ road to the bigs and his MLB debut.

I post daily DFS lineups for Draft Kings everyday, so please make sure to follow my blog (dynastydigest.sportsblog.com) and my Twitter for updates. For those of you who follow me daily, you know that I typically give long explanations to each pick. Unfortunately, I’m in a crunch for time, so I will have to make my explanations brief.
P- Steven Matz (vs. Atlanta Braves): $9,200. He is facing the 25th overall offense in baseball on Wednesday. His strikeout rate against a mediocre offense should be a great play. The wind will also be blowing towards home plate around 10 MPH, so this should limit and potential long balls against Matz.
P- Felix Hernandez (vs. Oakland A’s): $10,700. he is facing the 24th overall offense in baseball on Wednesday. In 275 career at bats against King Felix, the A’s are hitting .229 with a .264 OBP and only 5 home runs. Based on his B v. P, I think King Felix is a great play on Monday.

Corey Seager is not even in the lineup to open the season but he is the overwhelming favorite to the win the NL Rookie Of The Year Award in 2016 MLB Action.
Update: I was wrong, Seager is was in the lineup for the opener. Having said this, there is no value to bet on him at the odd given, even though he is the overwhelming favorite.
Like we said the American League odds list, there is never a real need to play a whole season to win this award. That is unless you have to compete against a 2015’s winner in Kris Bryant, who was brought up in mid April last year.
Really this is Seager’s spot to lose.
I hate the odds for a guy who is injured to begin the campaign, nonetheless he would still be my pick for the Award.
Steven Matz has dubbed the 2nd favorite – along with Kenta Maeda. Both of these guys broke camp with the big club, and could make 26 – 30 starts this year.
I love the odd better for Maeda, who is slotted higher in the rotation than Matz. These odds are not glamorous to wager on either.
Perhaps the most intriguing guy on the list is Trevor Story. He is the starting shortstop while Jose Reyes is still on the inactive list – awaiting a resolution (suspension) for his part in a domestic dispute in Hawaii over the winter.

Social media came to life late last week when Jacob deGrom made it known that he would love to stick around with the Mets. Follow that up with Matt Harvey saying he was open to an extension as well, and it’s all the buzz in New York.

The Mets made it to the World Series in 2015 after a subpar start heading into the Trade Deadline. With a ton of pitching and some decent positional players still on the roster, they could set themselves up for a lengthy run in the NL East. After tinkering with average players in acquisitions (other than Neil Walker – who is a comparable replacement for Daniel Murphy), it looks like GM Sandy Alderson is done constructing the offense for 2016. I think this is a critical error.

It has been a decent offseason for the New York Mets so far. They have resigned Bartolo Colon, filled in the spot at 2B with an almost equal amount of talent for Daniel Murphy, while adding Asdrubal Cabrera is also a wise move.
The organization even resigned Jerry Blevins to the Relief Core. There is still potential to add another arm or 2 for late innings in the Bullpen.
On Tuesday, it was announced the OF Alejandro De Aza has joined the club for a one year deal at $5.75 MIL (and $1.25 MIL in incentives). This guy can play all 3 OF positions, but he really should be a 4th OF on a championship team caliber style of team. (more…)
