Well here we are, the dog days of summer are upon us as we hit the first of August. We are greeted with a so-so 8 game slate and had amazing success yesterday, so let’s continue that today!
Daily Matchups for 8/1/2016
Pitcher
STUD
Stephen Strasburg- Stras comes into this matchup having a dominating season so far. He’s pitched 127 innings allowing only 90 hits while striking out 155 and walking only 36. He is sporting a 2.68 ERA with 14 wins. He draws a great matchup against the Diamondbacks who he has been able to hold to a .230 BA (14 for 61) while giving up only 1 HR to the current roster. He’s averaging 47.47 FP this season and coming off of a great performance against a good Indians’ team where he pitched 7 innings, allowing only 3 hits, 2 walks, 7 Ks picking up the win and 54 FP. We are looking for another 50+ FP outing from him tonight.
Kyle Hendricks- If you asked me at the beginning of the season if I would ever put Hendricks into the stud category I would most likely just laugh in your face. But here we are, Hendricks coming into Monday’s matchup with 9 wins, 116 IPs, allowing 91 hits, 32 walks, striking out 103 and a 2.39 ERA. He had a down game his last one against the White Sox where he pitched 5.2 innings, allowing 6 hits, 2 walks, 7 Ks and only 29 FP. Tonight he draws a great matchup against the Marlins who he has held to a .207 BA (12 for 58) with a 19.7 K%, 10.6 B%, and striking out 13 Marlins’ bats. He has given up 10 singles, inducing 19 groundouts, 7 flyouts, 6 walks and 3 pop outs. He hasn’t given up a HR to this current Miami roster and he comes in as a great option if you don’t want to pay up for
MID RANGE

CC Sabathia- Why do I like him? Well, the Mets struggle against lefties and he has held them to a .222 BA (26 for 117) in his lifetime. Their most feared hitter (besides the oft-injured Cespedes) is the switch-hitting Asdrubal Cabrera and he left with a left knee injury on Sunday. CC is coming off a terrific game against Houston where he pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing only 4 hits, 2 walks, striking out 5, picking up the W and 41 FP on FanDuel. He’s more of a tournament option but he’s got a 27.6 K%, 4.1 B%, while striking out 34 current Mets, inducing 29 groundouts, 15 flyouts, and only allowing 21 singles. Can’t trust CC in cash games on this small slate, but love him for a tourney or two.

Noah Syndergaard- Absolutely love Thor in this matchup against the Rockies as the spacious Citi Field. Syndergaard has held Colorado to a .200 BA (4 for 20) with a 13.6 K%, 9.1 B%. This includes 5 flyouts, 3 groundouts, 3 popouts, 3 strikeouts, 2 walks and 2 HRs. He’s averaging 39.80 FanDuel FP this season and Is coming off of a 6 IP, 7 hits, 3 walks, 8 Ks, 2.45 ERA, and 36 FP his last start against the Cardinals.
Corey Kluber- He’s our next stud of the day. He’s facing an Oakland team that he has been able to handle all of his career. Kluber has allowed only a .231 BA (15 for 65) with a 22.2 K%, 6.9 B% including 18 groundouts, 16 strikeouts, 11 flyouts, 10 singles, 5 walks, 2 Hrs. Kluber himself is averaging 38.70 FanDuel FP this season and draws a great matchup. He’s only had 2 down games in his lasat 10 and is coming off of a great game against the Orioles’ power bats where we saw Kluber pitch 7 innings, allowing 6 hits, 1 walk, 8 strikeouts and 36 FP. I could see him go for 40+ FP today.
MID RANGE
Jerad Eickhoff- He is going up against the Braves which is a dream for most pitchers this season. Eickhoff has allowed only a .200 BA (14 for 70) with a 20.5 K% anda 7.7 B%. He’s struck out 16 batters with 16 flyouts, 12 groundouts, allowing only 2 HRs. He’s averaging 29.71 FanDuel FP. Eickhoff had a tremendous game his last start where he pitched against Miami for 7 innings, allowing only 5 hits, 1 walk, striking out 8 and getting 42 FP. We think he will be under 10% owned and should be in store for a great game.
Steven Wright- You have to make sure the humidity and weather is just Wright (get it?!) because he’s absolutely terrible when it’s too humid or wet out. Normally we don’t like targeting pitchers against Angels’ bats as they just don’t strike out enough, but a knuckleball pitcher is a whole different ballgame. Wright has held LAA to a .238 BA (10 for 42) with a 14.6 K%, and a 10.4 B%. He’s struck out 7 while getting 9 groundouts, 7 flyouts, and walking 5. He’s more of a tournament option as well considering he is coming off an absolutely terrible performance against Detroit this week where he gave up 9 hits, 3 walks, only punching out 2 and getting -4 FanDuel FP.
VALUE
Carlos Rodon- Now this is more of a GPP flyer as Rodon is coming off the DL with a wrist injury. He draws a great matchup against the Twins who he has faced a few times as they are both in the AL Central division. Rodon has held the Twins’ bats to a .218 BA (12 for 55) with a 22.1 K%, 14.7 B%. He’s struck out 15 batters while also getting 12 groundouts, 9 flyouts, 9 walks, and 3 HRs. Rodon hasn’t pitched since July 5th where he allowed 12 hits in 5 innings to the Yankees. You can’t trust him in cash today, but use him in a small $1 or $2 tourney.
Francisco Liriano- Absolutely love Liriano as a sleeper pick today that people will be off of. Liriano is coming off an absolute nightmare of a matchup against the Mariners where he only lasted 3.1 innings, giving up 8 hits, walking 4, and getting -2 FP. The matchup before that he faced this exact Milwaukee team he is facing today. In that matchup on July 21st he pitched 6.2 innings striking out 13 and getting the win with 65 FP. Lifetime against the Brewers Liriano has held them to a .239 BA (22 for 92), striking out 28 and keeping up a 26.4 K%. Look for him to go under-owned and could prove to be a great asset on a slate like today.

Carlos Carrasco- Normally it’s hard for us here at dailyrotohelp.com to suggest pitchers against the Kansas City Royals but they are banged up and aren’t playing well this year. Carrasco has been able to hold the Royals to a .245 BA (38 for 155) with 44 strikeouts, 37 groundouts, a 25.7% K Rate to go along with a miniscule 7% Walk Rate. He’s only allowed 6 HRs in the 155 ABs and comes in with a great opportunity to go 6+ innings, 6+ Ks and the potential for the W which is an extra bonus on FD.
Kyle Hendricks- When you think stud pitching you don’t think Hendricks but he has been pitching well as of late and could get the run support needed to take down the Mets. Lifetime against them, he’s held them to a .195 BA (8 hits in 41 ABs) with a 17.8% K-rate, 2.2% Walk rate and 8 Ks with no HRs given up. It’s not a great pitching slate to look for the Studs we had on Monday night so be prepared.
MID RANGE
Marcus Stroman- Stroman gets to to face a terrible D-backs team. He’s only faced 4 batters and hasn’t given up a hit. There’s not much else to go on here so use him with caution if needed.
Michael Pineda- Which Pineda shows up to this game? The one who struck out 16 of these Orioles’ bats last season, or the one who can give up 16 hits in 1 game? Lifetime against Baltimore Pineda has given up a .281 BA (36 for 128) with 41 Ks (30.1% K-Rate) with a 3.7% Walk Rate while giving up 7 HRs. He gets to face Chris Davis so that could be 1 HR to go along with 3-4 Ks just from him. He’s more of a fringe cash play and more heavily used for GPPs tonight.
VALUE
Jeremy Hellickson- It almost pains me to put his name as he’s not been great in the past, but it seems like he turned things around this season. He’s facing a Marlins’ team that is very up and down this season. Hellickson has held the Marlins to a .213 BA (26 for 122) with a 14.1% K-rate and a 3.9% Walk Rate. Hellickson has induced 31 groundouts, 20 flyouts, 18 strikeouts and 14 lineouts to go along with only 2 HRs.
Felix Hernandez- The real question will be “Which King Felix do we get tonight?” He’s fresh off the DL and gets a nice matchup against the sliding White Sox. When Felix was good he has held them to a .241 BA (26 for 108) with an 18.6% K-Rate, 5.1% Walk Rate with 22 strikeouts, 27 groundouts, 19 singles, and only 2 HRs.

Daily Matchups for 7/18/2016

Jose Fernandez- He is facing a Phillies team that he has dominated in the past. Fernandez has held them to a .238 BA (10 for 42) while striking out 12 and not allowing an extra base hit. He’s the pitcher of the night.
Chris Sale- Is coming off a bad start against the Braves but he’s facing a Mariners’ team that he’s held to 17 hits in 81 ABs (.210 BA). He’s let a lot of people down lately but is in prime position to help a team. He’s $1,100 cheaper than Fernandez and $300 more expensive than Kluber. If you can pair him up with cheap bats, we could be in store for a great night for pitching!
Corey Kluber- Kluber has faced the Royals twice so far this year and has fared well for the most part. He faced them on June 15th and lasted only 5 innings while giving up 8 hits, walking 1, striking out 7 and got only 21 FP on Fanduel. Back on June 5th Kluber pitched 5 innings giving up only 2 hits while striking out 6 and securing the win and 48 FP. We’re hoping he gets the same results as his June 5th outing.
MID RANGE
Mike Fiers- Love Fiers as a very under-owned option for Monday’s slate. He’s facing the Atheletics who struggle at times. Lifetime against the A’s, Fiers has held them to a .230 BA (14 for 61) with 14 Ks and 10 ground outs. He has a 21.5% K percentage and makes an intriguing GPP option. He’s coming off a terrible start against Seattle lasting only 3.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and only 10 FPs and that could put his ownership down less than 10% tonight which is what it’ll take to take down a GPP.
Jon Lester- Lester is facing the terrible Mets who love to strike out. Lester has held them to a .254 BA (52 for 205) while striking out 50 and a 21.7% K rate. Lester has struggled his past couple of starts and could deter people away from him, we look for him to have a great game tonight.
VALUE
Mike Leake- He’s not always an attractive option but he does get a matchup against the Padres. Leake has held them to a .231 BA (15 hits in 65 ABs) while striking out 17 and giving up only 2 HRs. Love him for a very cheap option to load up on bats.
