Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For Draft Kings 5/4/16

If you have any questions or comments about this article or fantasy baseball, please Tweet me @dynasty_digest. I post daily DFS lineups for Draft Kings everyday, so please make sure to follow my blog (dynastydigest.sportsblog.com) and my Twitter for updates. For those of you who follow me daily, you know that I typically give long explanations to each pick. Unfortunately, I’m in a crunch for time, so I will have to make my explanations brief.

P- Steven Matz (vs. Atlanta Braves): $9,200. He is facing the 25th overall offense in baseball on Wednesday. His strikeout rate against a mediocre offense should be a great play. The wind will also be blowing towards home plate around 10 MPH, so this should limit and potential long balls against Matz.

P- Felix Hernandez (vs. Oakland A’s): $10,700. he is facing the 24th overall offense in baseball on Wednesday. In 275 career at bats against King Felix, the A’s are hitting .229 with a .264 OBP and only 5 home runs. Based on his B v. P, I think King Felix is a great play on Monday.

P- Jordan Zimmermann (vs. Minnesota Twins): $2,300. Zimmermann has been absolutely dominant since joining the Tigers in the offseason. In 26 innings this season, he is 4-0, with a 0.35 ERA, 16 strikeouts, and 7 walks. He isn’t going to get a ton of strikeouts, which could hurt in daily fantasy, but he is going to limit the runs and pitch deep into games. In the 4 starts he has dominated this year, he has faced some very good offenses, which includes the Yankees, Pirates, Royals, and A’s. He will be facing a very lackluster offense on Saturday, the Minnesota Twins, so this should be a great match-up for Zimmermann.

P- Kevin Gausman (vs. Chicago White Sox): $7,500. Gausman put on quite a show in his season debut earlier this week. In 5 innings against the Tampa Bay Rays, he gave up 1 earned run, on 3 hits, 2 walks, and 7 strikeouts. He was pulled in 5 innings after throwing 91 pitches. Considering that was his first game since coming off the DL, it wasn’t surprising to see him pulled out of the game early. Now that he has a game under his belt, hopefully the Orioles will let him go a little longer on Saturday. He will be facing the Chicago White Sox, but they shouldn’t be a very tough offense to take care of for Gausman.

P- Juan Nicasio (vs. Cincinnati Reds): $5,800. To me, this seems like a no brainer. First of all, Nicasio’s price point helps the flexibility of the rest of the lineup. Second, he is facing the 25th ranked offense in Major League Baseball at his home park. Third, he has a great strikeout rate, which will lead to great points on Friday. In 20 innings this year, he has a 4.50 ERA, 21 strikeouts, and 11 walks. In 2016, he has started against the Cardinals, Tigers, and Diamondbacks, whom all have great offenses. This match-up seems to be in Nicosio’s favor and it could be a great game for daily fantasy on Friday.

P- Aaron Sanchez (vs. Tampa Bay Rays): $7,100. Sanchez had a rough game last game, but prior to that, he had only give up 3 earned runs in 3 starts. He will be starting against the Tampa Bay Rays, whom he has already dominated this year. The Rays are ranked as the 29th overall offense in Major League Baseball, which shows how terrible they really are when it comes to hitting. In Sanchez’s 2016 debut, he threw 7 innings against the Rays, giving up 1 earned run, 5 hits, 0 walks, and 8 strikeouts. Sanchez will be hungry after his rough start last week, so he should put up a huge game on Friday.

Daily Fantasy MLB Picks For Draft Kings 4/28/16

Note: There are only 8 games on Thursday, which means the match-ups are very limited. There is also a very good chance of rain for the following games, so pay attention to the forecast: Phillies vs. Nationals, Pirates vs. Rockies, Athletics vs. Tigers.

P- Jon Lester (vs. Milwaukee Brewers): Through 4 starts in 2016, Lester has been absolutely dominant. In 27.1 innings pitched, he has a 1.98 ERA, 23 strikeouts, 5 walks, and a 2-1 record. The Brewers’ offense has struggled this season. They are currently ranked as the 25th ranked offense in Major League Baseball. Lester will be throwing off of his home mound on Thursday as well. All of these factors should work in Lester’s favor. NOTE: The Chicago Cubs game was postponed on Wednesday night, so Jake Arrieta may take Lester’s spot on Thursday, and if that is the case, Arrieta is a must add.

P- Tanner Roark (vs. Philadelphia Phillies): Roark has been a pleasant surprise for the Washington Nationals this season. In his first 4 starts, he has thrown 24 innings, with a 2.63 ERA, 24 strikeouts, 11 walks, and a 2-2 record. In his most recent start, he threw 7 innings against the Minnesota Twins, giving up 0 runs, striking out 15, and walking 3. He has a favorable matchup against the Phillies on Thursday, so he is a great start in daily fantasy baseball.

P- Jake Arrieta (vs. Milwaukee Brewers): $13,800. Arrieta has not slowed down since his Cy Young Award-winning season in 2015. Through 4 starts in 2016, he has thrown 31 innings (7.75 innings per game), with a 0.87 ERA, 26 strikeouts, 6 walks, 15 hits given up, and a 4-0 record. He comes at a very steep price, but he is worth it based on his success this season and the great match-up on Wednesday. He is facing a Brewers’ offense who is ranked as the 18th best in run production, 29th in hits, and 25th in strikeouts in Major League Baseball. Arrieta will exploit this team and should put up at least 20 points on Wednesday. He is averaging 32.3 points per game on Draft Kings this season. He comes at a very steep price, but his point production is worth it.

P- Jose Berrios (vs. Cleveland Indians): $6,900. For those of you who don’t know me, I’m a huge Jose Berrios fan. He will be making his MLB debut against the Cleveland Indians. Throughout his minor league career, he is averaging 9.5 strikeouts per 9 innings with a 2.91 ERA. Many pitchers are rushed to the bigs, which can hurt their development, but the Twins have taken their time with Berrios. He is very ready for this step in his career and I think he is a steal at only $6,900. Be aware that they will limit his innings, so don’t expect him to go past 6 innings on Wednesday. Luckily for daily fantasy owners, his strikeout ability should counteract the innings limit.

P- Max Scherzer (vs. Philadelphia Phillies): 12,900. It is no secret how dominant Scherzer can be when he is on the mound. He is facing a very weak offense on Tuesday, whom he has dominated throughout his career. The Phillies are ranked as the 19th best offense in Major League Baseball. He faced the Phillies earlier this season and threw 7 innings, giving up 5 hits, 1 earned run, 1 walk, and 7 strikeouts. Throughout his career, the Phillies are hitting .174 against Scherzer over 132 at bats. Scherzer is pitching at his home stadium on Tuesday for the first time since April 11th, so he could put on a show for his home crowd.

P- Ricky Nolasco (vs. Cleveland Indians): $6,700. In order to afford some big bats, it was necessary to take a risk and go with a cheaper pitcher. In 2016, Nolasco is averaging 18.6 points per game on Draft Kings. He will be facing the Cleveland Indians’ offense on Tuesday, who is ranked as the 20th best offense in Major League Baseball. Nolasco is known as a boom or bust option, so hopefully he booms on Tuesday. In 91 career at bats against Nolasco, the Indians’ offense is hitting .231 with 18 strikeouts.

Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For Draft Kings 4/25/16… Take Two

The match-ups for April 25th are exciting, so I decided to do a second version of my picks. You can see my original picks at the following link: CLICK HERE.

P- Noah Syndergaard (vs. Cincinnati Reds): $11,400. Syndergaard has been an absolute beast this year. In 3 starts in 2016, he has thrown 20 innings, with a 0.90 ERA, 29 strikeouts, and only 4 walks. He is currently averaging a massive, 31.9 points per game on Draft Kings. He will be facing the 23rd best offense in Major League Baseball, the Cincinnati Reds, on Monday. Syndergaard will also be pitching in his home stadium, which is always a plus to have your hometown crowd behind a pitcher. Considering what Syndergaard has done this season, it is near impossible not to start him on Monday.

P- Marcus Stroman (vs. Chicago White Sox): $8,700. Stroman’s price seems a little low for Monday, but it is probably due to the fact that multiple elite pitchers are throwing on Monday. Regardless, this is good news for daily fantasy players. Stroman has faced some incredibly tough offenses this season. His four starts consist of the Rays, Red Sox, Yankees, and the Orioles…. yikes. His stats are inflated because of his tough match-ups in my opinion. In 28.1 innings pitched, he has a 4.13 ERA, 15 strikeouts, and 7 walks. He isn’t going to rack up a bunch of strikeouts, but he should go deep into Mondays game. He is facing the White Sox, who have the 24th best offense in baseball. Stroman will be pitching on his home turf, against a sub-par offensive team…. this could be a great match-up for this low price.

Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For Draft Kings 4/25/16

P- Madison Bumgarner (vs. San Diego Padres): $12,000. What is not to love about this match-up? One of the best pitchers in baseball, against one of the worst offenses in baseball. The San Diego Padres offense is currently ranked at the 27th best offense in baseball. Madison Bumgarner has started 4 games this year and 3 of them were against elite offenses (Dodgers x2 and Arizona). In these four starts, he has thrown 23 innings, with a 3.91 ERA, 29 strikeouts, 8 walks, and a 1-2 record. He is back at his home stadium, which is a great park for pitchers, and I’m sure he is ready to take care of business. The Padres lineup has struggled against Bumgarner throughout his entire career. In 140 at bats against him, they are hitting .200 with 43 strikeouts, and only 2 home runs. This could be a huge game for MadBum, who is averaging 18.5 points per game on Draft Kings.

P- Jared Eickhoff (vs. Milwaukee Brewers): $8,500. Eickhoff has been a stud all year long. He is averaging 22.9 points on Draft Kings this season. In his first 3 starts, he has thrown 19 innings, 1.89 ERA, 21 strikeouts, and only 5 walks. He will be facing the Brewer’s offense, which is nothing special. Through the first few weeks of the season, the Brewers are ranked as the 29th best offense… that’s bad. They also strikeout the third most (156 total strikeouts) in the Major Leagues, which is great for a strikeout-pitcher such as Eickhoff.

P- Aaron Blair (vs. New York Mets): $6,800. I’m going out on a limb here, but I love Blair in this match-up. He is making his Major League debut and he is playing in his home stadium. The crowd will be behind him and he will be pumped up. The Mets offense has struggled all year long, so this could be a good first taste of the big leagues for Blair. In Blair’s minor league career, he is averaging 8.3 strikeouts per 9 innings, with a 3.13 ERA. This start could backfire considering no one knows how Blair will fair in the bigs, but at only $6,800, it won’t hurt too badly.

Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For Draft Kings 4/21/16

P- Clayton Kershaw (vs. Atlanta Braves): $13,600. Kershaw comes at a steep price, but he is well worth it. There are tons of great pitching match-ups on Thursday, but Kershaw is the most sure bet. When looking at other big match-ups, they didn’t quite match-up to Kershaw’s potential performance. Dallas Keuchel has really struggled against the Rangers when playing in Arlington, Jake Arrieta has been crushed in his career when pitching at Cincinnati, and Max Scherzer has struggled at times against the Miami Marlins. While there seems to be at least one red flag in all of the match-ups I mentioned, Kershaw pitching against the Braves is a match-up made in heaven. In 88 at bats against Kershaw, the Braves lineup is hitting .148 with 34 strikeouts. In 3 starts this year, Kershaw has thrown 22 innings (averaging more than 7 innings per game) with a 1.64 ERA, 20 strikeouts, and only 2 walks. These numbers are absolutely elite for daily fantasy.

P- Ricky Nolasco (vs. Milwaukee Brewers): $6,600. Nolasco is a boom or bust option. He is either going to give up 6 runs in the first… or he is going to strikeout 10 over 7 innings. He is a hard guy to understand, but it is hard not to love him versus the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday. The Brewers have the 26th best offense in Major League Baseball and it doesn’t look like that will be improving anytime soon. The Brewers have struck out 128 times this year, which ranks as the fifth worst in Major League Baseball. After spending so much on Kershaw, it was necessary to take a price cut on the second pitcher, and Nolasco provides the most hope out of cheap options.
