Brantley Undergoes Biceps Tenodesis, Recovery Will Take 4 Months
Michael Brantley was scheduled to have season-ending shoulder surgery yesterday on August 15 in Dallas, Texas in the hopes of relieving his chronic right biceps tenditinis. today, on August 16, some information about the surgery was announced. according to the Indians Press Release, Michael underwent a 45-minute procedure called biceps tenodesis to address the biceps tendinitis in his right shoulder. Dr. Keith Meister and Dr. Mark Shickendantz both performed the operation. while doing so, they confirmed that Michael’s labrum repair was intact and the remainder of the shoulder joint looked good. he is expected to make a full recovery in four months.
What Is Biceps Tenodesis?
what exactly is the biceps tenodesis procedure that Michael had done to his right shoulder on August 15 in Dallas, Texas by Dr. Keith Meister and Dr. Mark Shickendantz? i’m sure most of his fans want to know, none more than i. while Indians’ head athletic trainer James Quinlan shared in Jordan Bastian‘s article on indians.com that it consisted of cutting the biceps tendon and anchoring it to a different part of the shoulder, i wanted more details.
Baltimore Orioles Have Been Treading Water, but Look More Equipped for a Playoff Run
For a team that entered the 2016 MLB All-Star break with a 51-36 record, it can be viewed as disappointing to go 15-15 since returning to action like the Baltimore Orioles have. However, manager Buck Showalter and his coaching staff should actually be viewing it as progress based on how they got there.
One of baseball’s best and one of baseball’s worst
Throughout the 2016 season, Baltimore has proved a lot of people wrong (including myself). Sure, they started the year on a nine-game winning streak, but we all know fast starts don’t always produce playoff-caliber teams once the calendar flips to August and September.
For standing the test of time during the first three-and-a-half months, the organization can thank its offense and bullpen, while shaking its head at the rotation.
Many loved watching the Orioles hit, but very few enjoyed watching them pitch – at the beginning of games, at least. Starters combined to post a 29-28 record in the first half with a 5.15 ERA, which was third worst in the majors. They also didn’t last very long, with their 470 innings pitched ranking last out of 30 teams.
A Little Hope Goes A Long Ways
I’m a Mariner fan and over the past 15 years there hasn’t been a lot of reason to hope. There were times as a fan I got really excited and then each year my hopes would be stepped on, ran over, beat with a stick an then tossed out with the trash. However, this year has been different for a lot for a lot of reasons.
